Paul Newman, a man among men

Another wonderful legend has died.  Paul Newman was just 83 years young when he succumb to cancer and I am just heartbroken.  I grew up watching his movies, drooling over his gorgeous eyes and eating his salad dressing.  The man wasn't just an actor, he protested the Vietnam war, he gave all the proceeds from his salad dressing to charities, and he established the Hole in the Wall camps fro gravely ill children.

In Hollywood when actors switch mates faster than politicians flip-flop on subjects, Newman was married to the same and in this case, also a legend, woman for 50 years!  My heart goes out to Joanne Woodward who as Newman told it; "Why would I go out for a hamburger when I have steak at home?"

Please join me and millions of fans in praying for Joanne and Newman's family as their loss is far greater than ours.  I can only imagine the conversation going on in heaven between Newman, Steve McQueen, John Wayne and God.  It's got to be a blockbuster conversation!  RIP Paul and thanks for all that you were.

Darn you Gustav!

For 3 days last week I was without electricity.  I thought I'd go crazy from the withdrawals!  No internet, oh my God the pain!  No tv, no radio, nothing but the sound of rain!  If you ever want me to tell all my secrets just cut my electricity for a week.  I'll squeal like a pig!

On day one I still had warm water, but unbeknownst to me, by day 3, as I was stepping into the shower, I was in for a chilling realization, ice cold water!

So... thanks to hurricane Gustav, I'm behind in my college class, I had to totally empty my freezer and refrigerator and I'm fighting a sinus sore throat!

Politics makes strange bedfellows

Let the games begin!  We still have a choice on firsts.  First black president in office or first female vice-president in office.  I must admit, it was a bold (desperate) choice on McCain's part to choose a young, beautiful female for a running mate but if you follow the structure of Star Trek, (as of course I do because I'm a true-blue Trekkie!) then the next president will be a black man.  America will not elect a female, even if it's just for vice-president over a man, no matter how good she may be.  Some say that it is a bold move by McCain, I say he just lost the election.  And as for me, I'm glad because I'm ready for change and that means Obama all the way!

Regardless who is elected, this is history in the making more so than ever before and I'm alive to see it!
